Book Tour

So it looks like I'll be doing a book tour right before that most magical time of year (Back to School Time!) come August. I'm a little nervous about this because I'm afraid I'll be sitting at an empty book store, twiddling my thumbs, looking like a loser, and begging anyone who walks in the door to please, please, please let me sign a book for them. It doesn't even have to be my book. Any book will do. Let me just sign something so I don't feel so pathetic. Please.

Meanwhile, my kids (who will be coming on this tour with me) will be running around the store like loonies. Clay and Brooklyn will be playing hide and seek, knocking over displays. Lexi will be drawing in the books and asking me, "How do you spell this?" every minute and a half. Jackson will bring me a stack 249 books with the question, "Can I get these, Mom?" Savannah will be sitting there looking bored and complaining that I won't get her a cell phone of her own and Austin will sneak over to Starbucks, buy some coffee and then, hyped up on caffeine, act even weirder than he already does. Sounds like a fun time, no?

Which brings me to my question. I really, really don't want to sit in an empty store like a dork, so tell me where you live so my publisher can come up with a plan that includes cities of folks who know who I am and who would love an evening out without kids enjoy getting to meet me or hear me speak.

Thank you!

I don't know if this has been said already or if you read all these comments but I am in Northwest Indiana and would love to come see you. I unfortunatly will not bring my kids though because they would just aid yours in tearing up the place. I have 5 kids under 6 so they are very destructive especailly since I only have one girl.

Fort Knox, Kentucky! Come on, who doesn't want to come to Fort Knox? Stick the kids in Basic Training with some drill sergeants and hang out with all us Army wives. But I'd go to Louisville to see you if it has to be a big city.

OOOOOOOOOK-lahoma where the authors come to sign their books!

Seriously, this is the only State with a spelling lesson in its State Song. We have an Arts Festival going on Downtown... Today!

I would bet we could get you a table at Books-A-Million, or any number of other choices. Oh, I would so come help you, show you around town, bring you coffee. I could set you up at my favorite non-Starbucks location, too.

Sharing these ideas with the Publisher? Cool stuff. Love your thoughts, keep them coming!

there's a bookstore in my church and who knows, maybe they'd do a big ladies event or something. that wouldn't be lonely. maybe they'd even have childcare available for those who attend and you too up in the gamerooms. i am not an event planner, but have your agent check into it (fellowship of the woodlands in the woodlands, tx. i think the contact person would be lisa reeves or patti lis)

I seriously doubt you're going to have any trouble with getting people to show up at book signings. :) BUT, you should put Arlington, Texas on the list. Usually everyone goes to Dallas but I can't get out that way and I hate driving in Dallas. It's too scary.

Well I live in Britt MN. We barely make a dot on the map. My mom is the one who turned me on to your blog. She lives in Virginia MN. The closest big city area is about an hour away in Duluth MN. We would love to see you in our area but we would be willing to drive the hour to Duluth if need be.

Well along with the 688 people who will beg for your autograph, if you come to Sacramento, Ca maybe your celeb status can get you a visit with Gov. Arnold...if not I still think you should do it for my mom, 2 aunts, 3 cousins and me who will glady stand in line with all our darlings and tell everyone it was our kids who pulled the alarm and took over the light switches.

Las Vegas!!!
Make the signing in the afternoon. Take the kids to an indoor jump place first and make them jump and slide till theyre exhausted and then things might go a little smoother at the signing? Im only one vote but Im part of a 40 member playgroup so I'll make some of them come too. And then all our kids can create utter pandemonium.
And of course Vegas always has a good place or two to get refreshments afterwards.
